Whether you desire to tap a few trees in your yard or have a small sugar bush, you will need to know what is necessary to make quality maple syrup safely. Learn the history of maple production, how to tap a sugar maple tree and general science of producing syrup from tree sap. The in-house presentation will provide you with techniques, tips and best practices and will finish off with a tour of the Wye Marsh Sugar Shack and maple trees. And perhaps you will get to enjoy a taste of the sweet nectar itself!
The Wye Marsh Sap Suckers are a volunteer group who maintain the Wye Marsh's Sugar Shack and are responsible for every part of the maple syrup production process from tapping the trees to collecting the sap, to the distilling process. They are a knowledgeable, friendly group who are always willing to share the history and production processes of maple syrup!
This event is hosted by the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre
