5 tours that allow you to be a tourist in the Heart of Georgian Bay

Whether you are visiting the Heart of Georgian Bay for a day, or have lived here your entire life, guided tours are the perfect way to discover more of the area. We have compiled a list of five different tours that allow you to discover the scenery, culture, and history of the Heart of Georgian Bay during your Summer Staycation.

1. Walking Tours with the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum

This year, the staff of the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum are running two different guided walking tours to share stories about the culture and history of Penetanguishene. On the Rotary Champlain Wendat Park Walking Tour, staff share the significance of Indigenous and Francophone statues in the park. On the Historical Downtown Walking Tour, you will learn about the history of the town of Penetanguishene. 2. Day-Tripper Driving Food Tour with Midland Food Tours

The Heart of Georgian Bay is full of delicious food and drink. Sign up for a food tour with Midland Food Tours to spend the day exploring and tasting delicious local food. Midland Food Tours is currently offering a self-guided Day-Tripper Driving Food Tour, and will offer guided walking tours Downtown Midland later this fall. 3. Biking Tour with Humdinger Bicycle Tours

If you are interested in a biking tour, consider booking one of Humdinger Bicycle Tours’ trips. Their Simcoe Loop Trail trip is a self-guided five day, 160 km intermediate loop that travels throughout the Heart of Georgian Bay. Or, if you are new to multi-day biking trips, consider their Intro to Bikepacking fully guided tour. 4. Ghost Tour at Discovery Harbour

There have been many unusual happenings and strange encounters at Discovery Harbour. Sign up for a guided tour to visit the site after dark and discover the supernatural side of Discovery Harbour. Ghost Tours are offered Fridays, Saturdays, and select Thursdays through the summer until the Labour Day long weekend. 5. Kayak Eco-Tour at Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre

Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre has a huge network of trails to explore, but did you know you can also paddle the waters of the marsh? Sign up for one of their Kayak Eco-Tours to go beyond the boardwalk and see more of the marsh. Tours must be booked two weeks in advance, and be for a group of 3-6 people.
