The first official day of autumn is next week and though we are sad to see summer go, we are excited for all the treats that incorporate pumpkin and apple flavours that are associated with the fall. This week we have compiled a list of five autumnal treats in the Heart of Georgian Bay to help you embrace the changing seasons.
To welcome the official start of autumn, Olde Town Library will be serving Pumpkin Streusel Muffins next week. Head to the beautiful shop located in a hundred-year-old historic building to pick up a muffin and cup of coffee or tea, and then browse their wide selection of vintage home decor for the perfect autumnal accent for your home.
Olde Town Library is located in Midland and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10-5.
A roundup of autumnal treats would be incomplete without at least one mention of the infamous PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte). Luckily for PSL devotees, Café Kittyhawk serves up a delicious PSL for you to enjoy to-go or on their patio. You can’t get more fall than sipping a PSL while watching the leaves change colours.
Café Kittyhawk is located in Penetanguishene and is open Monday to Saturday from 8-3.
The Elegant Gourmet makes all their chocolate and fudge in-house, and in honour of the changing seasons they are now serving Pumpkin Pie Fudge, and will have Apple Pie Fudge later in the season. While you are there to pick up some fudge, grab a hot drink and head down to the Midland waterfront to enjoy the views of changing leaves across the bay.
The Elegant Gourmet is located in Midland and is open Wednesday to Saturday from 11-5, and Sunday from 11-4.
If you find yourself in Tay Township, Cheeky Mama Bakery & Café is the perfect place to head to to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you are a pumpkin lover, try their Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake. If you are a fan of apple desserts, their Apple Pie Butter Tarts are the perfect combination of apple pie and butter tarts – what’s not to love?
Cheeky Mama Bakery & Café is located in Victoria Harbour and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10-4.
If you are a fan of fall flavours but prefer savoury food, we’ve got you covered. Head to La Baie Crêperie for their Bacon, Apple, and Cheddar Crêpe. It’s served with a side of maple syrup and is a unique flavour combination that still incorporates apples. La Baie Crêperie is open for indoor dining, takeout, and delivery through DoorDash.
La Baie Crêperie is located in Midland and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11-7.
