A Day in the Life: Born Ruffians
The MCC is delighted to welcome back Born Ruffians", this time in conversation with host Fred Hacker. The band is comprised of three local guys, Luke Lalonde (guitar, vocals), Mitch Derosier (bass), and Steve Hamelin (drums).
Born Ruffians" is an indie pop/rock band formed in 2004. The band started making music together in high school where Mitch and Luke, who are cousins, met Steve Hamelin. Born Ruffians released their first album in 2006. The self-titled EP was followed by the 2008 release of "Red, Yellow & Blue". This album was critically acclaimed, earning an Independent Music Awards nomination for Pop/Rock Album of the year. In 2010, Born Ruffians released their second full-length album, "Say It". In 2013, the band released "Birthmarks". In 2015, they released their fourth studio album, Ruff", which was praised by 2016 Grammy nominee, Caribou". Born Ruffians" released their 5th studio album Uncle, Duke & The Chief" in 2018. The band has toured in North America, the UK, throughout Europe, and Australia. They have appeared in commercials and in television series. It has been said of the band: "Born Ruffians are one of those bands that has something special - a special charisma about them... the energy in the way they reinterpret the songs differently from night to night is thrilling."
