Tay Township Canada Day Celebrations 

Supporting Radio for Cardiology and St Vincent de Paul Food bank, this event is not to be missed and has turned into the second most popular celebration in the area.

It all starts on the 23rd June at 5:00pm with a Steak on a Bun dinner put on by the Victoria Harbour and District Lions, where patrons can listen and dance to one of the region’s best bands, “SONIC COALITION”. At 8:30pm folks will be rocking to North America's Best Eagles Tribute Band - "HOTEL CALIFORNIA."

On 24TH June starting at 12:00 noon everyone will be treated to one the best Canada Day Parades in Simcoe County. Fabulous prizes for the best decorated bicycles (Jr & Sr Category), Best Decorated Lawn Tractor and Float. Thereafter chow down on FREE Hamburgers and Sausages provided by Skyline Investments and FREE Hot Dogs by the Ladies Auxiliary. Saturday afternoon and evening has been designated “KICKEN KOUNTRY” Day. Shortly after the 1 PM opening Ceremonies, be prepared for some GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC all Afternoon with “3/4 Country” and “The Outlaw Sons”.

Don't miss out on the Exotic Petting Zoo, Balloon Twisters, Face Painters, A Magician and a full contingent of Artisan selling their wares.

At 8:30PM the tent will stomp to North America’s best “SHANIA TWAIN/GARTH BROOKS” Tribute Band. There will be prizes for the best Country Attire. Wear your Stetsons, Cowboy Boots, etc and enjoy a Foot Stompin Good Time. The Port McNicoll Anglers and Hunters will provide Food for Both evenings and the Recreation and Culture Committee will provide pop, chips, coffee, etc.

This fabulous event is not to be missed!

Cost for the evening entertainment for each night is $15.00 per wristband bought in advance and $20.00 at the gate. The Venue fills up quickly, so don't delay purchasing your wristbands. Buffy Sainte-Marie at the Midland Cultural Centre

Buffy Sainte-Marie is a Native Canadian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator, social activist and philanthropist. Buffy Sainte-Marie specializes in love songs and music with a political and social-activist focus. She was an important figure in the Greenwich Village and Torontofolk music revivals in the 1960s, and is perhaps best known for her 1964 anti-war anthem “Universal Soldier,” which was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005. Her songs have been covered by such artists as Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley. She won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award in 1983 for co-writing the hit song “Up Where We Belong.” An Officer of the Order of Canada, she has been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame. She has received the Polaris Music Prize and multiple Queen’s Jubilee Medals, Juno Awards and Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.

A guided tour of Sainte-Marie that highlights French and First Nations stories and the people who lived here from 1639 to 1649. The evening concludes in the Longhouse with a traditional First Nations story which is a memorable experience and not to be missed.

The Bay Studio Tour

The Bay Studio Tour features local artists from the towns of Penetanguishene and Tiny, Ontario, along with guest artists from the surrounding area. Their studios and galleries are located on or near the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay. 

In 2017 there are 28 artists participating and displaying their work during the tour at various locations. Our talented participants create visual arts in all mediums including but not limited to; sculpture, pottery, photographic art, textiles, jewellery, glass, native art, and much more.

The annual tour guide with artist bios, images and contact information, along with a tour map will be available from many locations throughout the area, including the tourist information centres in Midland and Penetanguishene. The tour runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm on both Saturday & Sunday.

The Silver Goose CX Race

Location: Little Lake Park, Midland, ON
Cyclocross is a great spectator sport that takes place on a short circuit measuring 2.5-3.5km. The courses feature steep hills, tree roots, rocks, sand pits, and barriers, including stairs and hurdles. Racers are forced to dismount their bikes to get through these barriers, quickly remounting as they race to a final bell lap for thirty minutes to one hour, depending on the race category.
