Are You Awesome? 

North Simcoe Tourism is looking for up to two (2) fun-loving post-secondary students to assist in the promotion of tourism attractions and activities within the Heart of Georgian Bay. You will be required to act as an ambassador for the region; attend festivals and events to collect survey data, maintain social media channels and website content, create a monthly e-newsletters, and assist with office work and other marketing projects/programs.
 

Who can apply?

Applicants must:
  • Be enrolled full-time at college or university (minimum 3 courses)
  • Have completed at least one year of college or university by summer 2018
  • Have intention to continue his/her education in the fall of 2018

Responsibilities

  • Visit areas attractions to take photos and create content for social media
  • Attend all summer events with Tourism Coordinator or board members, to assist with visitor surveys and/or handing out promotional materials
  • Attend meetings, conferences and/or events on behalf of North Simcoe Tourism
  • Create monthly e-newsletters using Mail Chimp
  • Update existing website listings on www.gbay.ca
  • Update Facebook, Instagram, Twitter daily, and other social platforms regularly
  • Build photo inventory: catalogue, label and enhance photographs and video using Photoshop Elements
  • Recruit new local tourism stakeholders to be listed on www.gbay.ca
  • Assist Tourism Coordinator and/or Board members in planning and implementing marketing projects
  • Assist with office duties, as assigned, using Microsoft Office and internet applications

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of tourism products and services within North Simcoe
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications practices
  • Enrolled in post-secondary program for travel and tourism or marketing preferred
  • Superb written and interpersonal skills, and professional personality
  • Video shooting and photography skills for traditional and new media purposes
  • Strong computer skills or willingness to learn new softwares, including website editing, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, and various social media platforms
  • Knowledge of survey delivery and analysis of data collected
  • Personable, positive and enthusiastic nature
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to transportation is an asset
  • Bilingual in both French/English is an asset
